Title: Environmental Data for Minnesota
Resource type: Database
Topics: Communities, Statewide/Global, Water
Keywords: lake quality, water quality, air quality, ground water, lake health
Audience: All
Region: Minnesota Statewide
Summary: Data is available for surface waters (lakes, rivers, and streams), air quality, and ground water statewide through the MN Pollution Control Agency's Environmental Data Access web site and a derivative Conservation Minnesota web site.
Content: Finding and accessing up-to-date environmental data and information for Minnesota used to require a fair amount of detective work. That's no longer the case, because the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has made water quality, air quality and ground water data available through its Environmental Data Access (EDA) web site below.

A few examples of things that can be accessed include lake and stream water chemistry data, wastewater discharge monitoring reports, data from ambient air quality monitoring stations and analytical data from ground water well testing.

The EDA system also provides access to some data collected by organizations other than the MPCA. Examples of this include stream flow data from the U.S. Geological Survey and information from the Minn. Health Department's County Well Index.

Users can look for environmental data using an interactive map-based viewer or through text-based searches. Anyone interested in environmental data collected in Minnesota is apt to find the EDA system interesting and useful.
