Minnesota GreenCorps: an AmeriCorps ProgramThe MPCA is sponsoring an environmentally focused AmeriCorps program that began in September 2009.  The Minnesota GreenCorps provides opportunities for recent college graduates (mostly) to improve Minnesota's environment, while gaining experience and learning valuable job skills. Minnesota GreenCorps members are working on projects in the areas of:
In this first year, the program is designed for 18 full-time members. An additional 4 part-time members who are registered University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM) students are hosted at UMM's campus. A stipend of $11,400 is provided for full-time GreenCorps members, as well as an education-related award of $4,725 for those completing their term of full-time service. (This education award can be used to pay for student loans or higher education costs.) Health insurance is also offered. Preferred qualifications: 4- year BA/BS degree or higher in environmental-related studies, urban planning/community development, engineering, architecture, social sciences, education or communications. Minimum qualifications: 2- year AA degree or completion of sophomore year in a 4-year college program. Experience: Previous volunteer experience desired. Specific environmental experience not necessary.
